ABLE Kids
In 2025 Able Kids Rehab moved forward with a robust outreach program. Four different communities were chosen with the furthest one being approximately 50 km away from Able Kids homebase in Blantyre, Malawi. Since most parents and caregivers do not have a vehicle nor are they able to afford transport, they have to walk to Able Kids for treatment. And while the same parents and caregivers walk for potentially many kms to get their kids to Able Kids, the communities represented within the outreach catchment areas are simply too far to walk. There are so many children that need assessment and treatment, and when it’s outreach day, folks show up. The able kids team takes basic aids, CP chairs and some food. We all know what it’s like when people bring food. Turn—out has been exceptional and for for 2026 Able Kids is increasing the visits to the outreach locations!! Parents will be mentored by staff on how to deliver basic therapies at home so that children don’t have to wait for their next therapy treatment.
