Able Kids
Able Kids has just received a delivery of 60 CP chairs. Originally designed for children who had lived with Cerebral Palsy, these chairs have gone on to be very valuable pieces of furniture for children with a multitude of physical challenges. After Able Kids lost their carpenter in a mudslide during cyclone Freddie, it took a while to find another carpenter who understood the complexities of these basic-looking chairs. Very specific angles to keep the child upright and feeling secure, a seat that tilts back so they can’t fall out, and a table angled just right to play games, do school work or eat their lunch. Some of these chairs will be located at Able Kids, replacing worn-out old chairs, some will go home with Able Kids children so they can continue experiencing life in an upright position and some will follow the children when they leave Able Kids for public school. Staff will be painting the chairs bright primary colours 🙂Â
