Projects in Uganda 2021

Caring For Kids

I want to thank all my donors who have not given up on giving and I pray that the good Lord will reward you with good health and prosperity. Remember when you give to the poor you have given to God and He has His way of multiplying your giving.

It’s been a hard period with everything going on in the world and this affected all of us including the charities. Although this all happed, life had to go on. We had to support some families with food and other items during the pandemic and there is no way we would have achieved this without your help.

I visited the charity in March 2019, got in Uganda two weeks before the pandemic and we were in lockdown there for two and half months which wasn’t fun at all but the good God protected us and brought us home safe. During the visit, before the lockdown, we were able to visit the projects as you will see in the photos, and trust me it was heartwarming sharing lunch with the kids and playing games. Right now school is back on and we pray to God that the kids are able to adjust according. We had one girl who requested to go for vocational studies and after consulting with her sponsor she enrolled and she doing tailoring and loving it. We have had many people coming to us for help and so far the number has increased we praise God that at least we got new donors.

So far it’s all well and we lean on God for continuation.

Greenfield Kids Foundation

This is the Greenfield Kids Foundation. We are currently building a school for the needy children of Rubanda, Uganda. The Greenfield Nursery and Primary school educates more than 400 students. Our classrooms have been built and we are working on the teachers living quarters. The kitchen and food storage has just been finished as well as our latrines and newly installed water source via pipeline. Many staff and students stay at the school throughout the week because travel can be very dangerous in early hours and over such long distances. Our school provides and education to children age 3 to 17, as well as providing at least 2 meals a day which is more than some would receive at home. Children learn, play, sing, dance and play sports at the Greenfield school. Without our school here there would be a big hole in this community, thanks to Devxchange for helping us help others.

Kwagala

January 2021 started with only primary grade 7 classes allowed to return to our compound’s elementary school during Covid shutdowns and enforced protocols.  In February up to 60 students were allowed to return to elementary school in-class learning and construction started with the ground breaking plans for our high school.  Sending students away to be boarded for high school was not cost effective and building on our compound grounds would enable many more students to continue their education through to the end of high school.

March and April saw a slow return of more students each month. Construction for the high school continued with walls going up and the roof going on as the classrooms took shape.  In May, the students planted over 100 Mango trees on our compound, as an educational project.  Our medical clinic was able to serve the surrounding community in June and our local nurse, Mary, graduated from University with a degree in Midwifery.

July saw a return to lockdown in Uganda which continued for August as well.  Our high school was taking shape and we were able to start on interior finishes to be ready for return to learning when restrictions were lifted.  October saw a return to in-class education, our medical clinic receiving patients and our water project/well once again being fully accessible to the community.

In November, our Destiny High School was coming to completion and sponsors were found to provide uniforms for all students allowing us to announce an official opening date of January 2022.  As school wrapped up for the December break, we hosted an outdoor Christmas Camp for around 200 people which included food hamper distributions on the last day of camp.

Love Uganda

Like all projects, we have struggled with Covid.  I am now convinced that we can find a clear road ahead to improve the present Orphanage and move towards getting the building project off the ground.

Our common message of responding to real needs can appear overwhelming, but together we can be supportive and march down that road to fulfilling our dreams of providing the necessarily help.

Thank you to all those volunteering, and all those involved in the various projects. I pray success for all.

Neema Child

This project supports nearly 200 children within their programs with the goal of bringing hope and a brighter future to children who have been victimized by the effects of AIDS, civil war and under-developed social systems. With a focus on education and the provision of basic daily needs such as food, housing, clothing and medical care.

Sonrise Baby Home

We now have new homes that clear the inspection of our health officials, we have land where we are growing our own food and we have livestock to provide the babies with milk and meat. We look forward to building into this new community and being able to care for more babies in a much cleanlier environment.

What an amazing year 2021 has been for the Sonrise Baby Home. God truly blessed us by sending the funds for us to complete the 6 new homes for the babies of Sonrise. This past Christmas (2021) will be one to remember as we packed up 42 wee ones and their nannies and moved them to their new homes and land. We are so grateful to the Lord first for His blessings and providence, but we are thankful to each one of our sponsors that were led to donate financially and for the many that poured prayers over this project.
